KimsaidthathebelieveshissecondmeetingwithXiwilldeepenmutualtrustandpushthefriendlyandcooperativeDPRK-Chinarelationshiptoachievegreaterclosenessandcomprehensivedevelopmentinlinewiththedemandsofthenewera.
Xinotedthatwithjointeffortsfromrelevantparties,themomentumofdialogueandalleviationoftensionsonthepeninsulaisbeingconsolidatedinadirectionthatisconducivetoapoliticalsolution.
ChinasupportstheDPRK’sadherencetothedenuclearizationofthepeninsula,andbacksdialogueandconsultationbetweentheDPRKandtheUnitedStatesforresolvingthepeninsularissue,Xisaid.
SpeakinghighlyofXi’sprofoundvisionandextraordinarywisdom,KimexpressedhisgratitudetoChinaforitslongstandingandsignificantcontributionstorealizingdenuclearizationontheKoreanPeninsulaandsafeguardingpeaceandstabilityintheregion.
ChinaandIndiaReachBroadConsensusinInformalSummit
PresidentXiJinpingheldaninformalmeetingwithIndianPrimeMinisterNarendraModiinWuhan,capitalofcentralChina’sHubeiProvince,onApril2728.ThetwoleadersexchangedviewsonChina-Indiarelationsandglobalandregionalissuesofcommonconcern.
XinotedthatasoundChinaIndiarelationshipwouldsignificantlycontributetoworldstabilityandhumanprogress.Ontheirpathstoachievedevelopmentandprosperity,ChinaandIndiafacesimilartasks.Xisaidthetwocountriesshouldfocusondevelopment,deepentheirmutuallybeneficialcooperation,andjointlyrealizetheirrespectivedreamofnationalrejuvenation.
Modisaidthatasneighbors,thetwosidesshouldstrengthendialogue,communication,andcooperation,cherishfriendship,andmaintainregionalpeace.Hefurtherpointedoutthatwithsharedideas,determination,andvisions,ChinaandIndiawouldincreasemutualunderstanding,worktogethertodealwithglobalissuesandchallenges,handledifferencesproperly,andpromotepeople-to-peopleexchanges,thusbringingbilateralrelationstoanewlevel.
Bothsidesagreedtoadvanceall-roundcooperationandstrengthentheChina-IndiaCloserDevelopmentalPartnershiponanequal-footed,mutuallybeneficialandsustainablemannertosupporttheirnationalmodernization.Theyalsodecidedtoproperlymanageandcontroltheirdifferences.TheyagreedtousetheSpecialRepresentatives’MeetingontheBoundaryQuestiontoseekafair,reasonableandmutuallyacceptablesettlement.Bothsidesagreedthattheleadersofthetwocountrieswouldcontinuetomaintainstrategiccommunicationinvariousforms.TheycommittedtoendeavoringtoopennewprospectsinChinaIndiarelations,buildingontheinformalsummit.

OnApril23,2018,PresidentXiJinpingheldagroupmeetinginBeijingwithforeignministersfromRussia,India,Kazakhstan,Kyrgyzstan,Pakistan,Tajikistan,Uzbekistan,Secretary-GeneraloftheShanghaiCooperationOrganization(SCO)RashidAlimov,andDirectoroftheExecutiveCommitteeoftheSCORegionalAnti-TerroristStructureYevgeniySysoyev,allofwhomwereinChinaforthemeetingoftheCouncilofForeignMinistersoftheSCOMemberStates.
XiJinpingpointedoutthatsincetheestablishmentoftheSCO17yearsago,ithasgonethroughanextraordinarydevelopmentpath,becomingacomprehensiveregionalorganizationwithextensiveinfluence.XiJinpingstressedthatChinahasconsistentlytakenthepromotionoftheSCO’sdevelopmentasoneofitsdiplomaticpriorities.Headdedthatunderthenewcircumstances,firstly,weshouldstaytruetoouroriginalaspirationsandfirmlycarryforwardthe“ShanghaiSpirit”;secondly,weshouldgiveplaytoouradvantagesandfullyrealizethenewpotentialaftermembershipexpansion;thirdly,weshouldforgeaheadandmakeprogress,anddeterminetopromotecomprehensivecooperation.
TheforeignministersindicatedintheirspeechesthattheleadersofallSCOcountriesattachgreatimportancetoandlookforwardtoattendingtheSCOQingdaoSummit,andspeakhighlyoftheworkChinahasdoneasthepresidency.TheSCO,afterexpansion,shouldsticktothe“ShanghaiSpirit,”adapttothedevelopingsituation,andintensifycoordinationandcooperationinglobalandregionalaffairs.
